Envisioning a world where everyone is free to move, express themselves and be met as they are.
Meet Mafê
Hello! My name is Mafê Toledo (read Mah-Fay). Born and raised in Brazil, I grew up listening and dancing to a rich variety of rhythms. Before crossing the Atlantic and finding my base in London, I travelled in my home country and met different communities, sharing the joy of moving collectively to the sound of Brazilian drums. Music has the power to bring people together and pulse in the same tempo: this kind of experience feeds my soul and bring a sense of purpose to what I do.
A mother myself, my work is shaped by lived experience, blending research, personal insight, and participant input. With a strong focus on improvisation, my work is deeply rooted in somatic movement, particularly Body-Mind Centering®. I am a qualified Somatic Movement Educator (SME) and Infant Developmental Movement Educator (IDME) I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography (Roehampton University), and have a Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Trinity Laban).
Working in partnership with arts organisations and children’s centres, my sessions support adults in exploring their evolving identity as parents while young children’s voices are recognised and celebrated.
