Mafê Toledo is a dance artist, teacher and arts manager. She has a passion for facilitating creative processes and explorative journeys and is committed to sharing her love for the human body with as wide a variety of people as possible. Originally from Brazil, Mafê graduated in Communication and Arts of the Body at PUC University (São Paulo) and completed a MFA in Choreography at Roehampton University (London). She is also training as a Somatic Movement Educator with Embody-Move, the licensed UK program for the School for Body Mind Centering.
Mafê has worked as a dancer/choreographer and taught dance for over 13 years, having performed and presented her work in UK and Brazil. She also worked as Space Bookings Manager and managed Reception at The Place, a world renowned contemporary dance theatre and school in London which offers creative projects for diverse audiences.
Since becoming a mum 2 years ago, Mafê has been delving deeply into the process of self-discovery that is Motherhood. From this experience she feels compelled to offer opportunities for parents to reconnect with themselves through movement, while also bonding with their little ones using touch, play and non-verbal communication.
She has just launched her own parent/baby movement class and is developing more classes dedicated to families of different ages including pregnant parents and toddlers. Mafe’s mission is to help parents to get in touch with themselves and at the same time foster the natural bond with their children so that their relationship remains fine-tuned for many years to follow.
